Founded in 1989, CAW’s mission is to help youth rise above their circumstances to reach their fullest potential – both academically and socially.  CAW provides after-school, out-of-school, and summer programs for “typical” and “at-risk” youth in the areas of prevention, intervention, and academic enhancement. CAW consistently achieves some of Miami-Dade’s best results among at-risk youth:

93% of formerly delinquent youth completing CAW’s prevention program do not commit another offense at least 1 year post-program. 90% of youth who complete CAW’s reading enhancement program improve in reading by at least 1 level after 18 weeks of instruction, which is five times the improvement rate in reading for Miami-Dade children overall in 2005.

CAW’s work was selected by The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice as a model program and by  The Children’s Trust as a promising model for academic enhancement among at-risk youth.

From its humble beginnings, CAW is celebrating its 18th year, serving 1,200+ youth and families per year in South Florida’s most high-risk neighborhoods. CAW has served more than 8,000 youth and families in its history.
